Evaldas
Šemetulskis
Painter
Evaldas Šemetulskis began his creative activity in 1984. Along with his creative work as an author, the author is also known as one of the pioneers of private galleries in Lithuania, the founder of international artists' symposiums in Nida, and since 2000, he has been inviting artists to gather and create in Neringa. The author's works have been presented at exhibitions in Poland, Germany, Königsberg, Japan, Estonia, Latvia, Russia, Serbia, Turkey, and Lithuania.
Mysticism, fairy tale, constant color transformation – Šemetulskis’s work evokes a different world. Here you will not find a simple image of nature: it is enriched by object-symbols, colors as a source of energy, and the pointillistic language of paint. Geometric figures, spirals, rays – motifs with which E. Šemetulskis juxtaposes reality and abstraction.
Evaldas' painting is stylistically diverse. Expressive or calm abstractions painted with small strokes, characterized by a unified silver or golden color, express a serene mood. In his works, the artist seeks harmony between a sensitive plastic language and the chosen theme. Evaldas' painting is not expressive, nor overly abstract and not psychologically overloaded, although the image is sufficiently suggestive and optically strong. Evaldas' painting also includes a number of realistic paintings, which subtly convey the motifs of the gentle breeze of the lagoon and the restless murmur of the sea; he created more than one lyrical painting, imbued with the special spirit of Nida
